Tarantula?

[edit]

Erm, I believe that the american tarantulas have tha false name, as it was origionally given to the Lycosa Tarantula, and taken to america by settlers. Therefore Mygalomorphae (probably the Theraphosidae in this case) cannot possibly be the "true tarantulas. If everybody where to start calling chairs "tables", then they would not become the true "tables", so it should not apply here. --81.77.217.161 20:21, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tailless whip scorpions too?

[edit]

Looking at Encyclopædia Britannica Article "tailless whip scorpion (order Amblypygi, sometimes Phrynichida)" one sees

An example is the 11-mm (0.4-inch) Tarantula marginemaculata of Florida.

Investigating further, one finds

Family: Tarantulidae; Genus: Tarantula; Species: marginemaculata

But Wikipedia has no such family or genus.

Amazonas region

[edit]

Are there some Tarantulas in the Amozonas region? Especially near from Manaus. And if yes, how often will you see them? Are they afraid of people and go away if you come or not? I know that this contribution isn´t for improvating Wikipedia, but a friend of mine wants to travel there and is interested in knowing this. Dagadt (talk) 14:59, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
