User:Ahoerstemeier has proposed that TIS-620 be redirected to ISO 8859-11, fair enough a request since the two standards are effectively identical. However, I posit that the redirect should be done in the other direction, as

  1. TIS-620 predates the ISO version by a number of years (9 for the current version, but I'm not sure if there were earlier versions)
  2. TIS-620 is what the charset is universally called here in Thailand

This are two different standards, maintained by two different organisations. Fortunately they are rather similiar, but I wouldn't merge the articles. --Pjacobi 15:43, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

There're small differences, not actually 100% identical.

the registration seems a little screwy

[edit]

looking at http://www.iana.org/assignments/charset-reg/tis-620 none of the documents it links mentions control codes at all! yet they are obviously nessacery for actual use on the internet. Plugwash 00:29, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unicode

[edit]

Why is TIS-620 for websites in Thai better than Unicode? --88.77.234.30 11:06, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. It's just the legacy standard. Jpatokal 13:34, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
