Above are some quick sources... this would be a nice article to expand as it's current state is unacceptable... Coastalsteve984 (talk) 13:30, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Lightoller a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic
[edit]With this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sundowner_%28yacht%29&type=revision&diff=1078592480&oldid=1078592291 editor @Juanpumpchump: removed the only mention of Ligthtoller being a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic from the article. I reverted it, and he reverted it back while accusing me of edit warring, hence this.
I propose the first sentence of the lead read:
Sundowner is a motor yacht formerly owned by Charles Lightoller, the second officer aboard the RMS Titanic and most senior surviving crewmember from her sinking in 1912.
I think my reasoning is obvious, but I'll elucidate: Lightoller's surviving the sinking of the Titanic is part of what made his life exceptional and interesting, and adds value to the article. Not mentioning it at all in the article assumes the reader knows the Titanic sank which may seem obvious but is not how encyclopedias work. It makes the article more interesting, and the article is short as it is. And finally, there is WP:WEIGHT... wherever Sundowner is mentioned, you can be sure Lightoller will be mentioned, and if anyone can present an instance where Sundowner is mentioned in a book or article without mention of Lightoller being a survivor, I will be surprised. - OK, with this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sundowner_%28yacht%29&type=revision&diff=1078656707&oldid=1078607458 editor PF235 has at least restored the fact that the Titanic sank, and that'll do... no need to say he "survived" if the article at least says she sank.
