SunTrust Park

[edit]

Ab editor has made a series of changes regarding the old name of the park, SunTrust Park. One was made in the lead, they also changed the image of the park to an outside of the park shot featuring the logo, and then added the logo. These are all unnecessary, but if people disagree by all means included it. I've rolled this back to the status quo until there's support for the changes. Thanks!. Nemov (talk) 15:18, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with you Nemov on this. Even if stadiums have new names, former logos should be kept for history. Abhiramakella (talk) 15:19, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of finding consensus for the change Abhiramakella has gone ahead and made the change again without any support. Nemov (talk) 16:17, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Abhiramakella are you just going to ignore this process and force your change? Please revert and find consensus. Nemov (talk) 18:47, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Stable version" of the second sentence

[edit]

The second sentence, for over a year, said "it is the ballpark of...". As this phrase sounded quite odd, I changed it to "It is the home field of..." Nemov seems to have a problem with this and changed it to "it is the home ballpark of..." and claimed that is what it said for the last three years. A quick look at the history demonstrates this is incorrect; however, I will AGF and allow that Nemov looked only at a version from 3 years ago, not 1 year ago. Regardless, his edit summary to me saying "You should get out more" took me by surprise as an attack, and I wish he would strike that and apologize. You've brought up the alleged WP:NPA at my talk. So I'll set that aside since it's baseless. "Home ballpark" is widely used term in baseball to refer to a home baseball stadium. I'm not sure why "home' was removed, but I restored it and you've forced your edit in again after being questioned about it. I would ask you to restore the status quo until you have support for your change which is basic Wiki policy. Nemov (talk) 00:07, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For some context, please look at this collection of edits. The same user went through all of the MLB stadium articles and made unilateral changes to the second sentence. In most cases, I was simply reverting to the state that they were all in before that mass change, and I'll grant that in making a standard edit, Truist Park's second sentence now says "home field" instead of whatever was there before. I don't think "home field" is inaccurate and it's probably the most common way of stating that the Braves play their home games there. Fred Zepelin (talk) 00:09, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking through those edits some of the articles were called baseball stadiums[1] or home ballparks[2]. You've making unilateral edits as well, but this article ballpark was used. "Home ballpark" was how it's been described for most of this article's existence. You're not solving a problem here or making an improvement. Nemov (talk) 00:18, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would be quite surprised if 'home field' was the most common phraseology. I've never really thought about it much before, but now that I am thinking about it, 'home field' feels much more like a football term with 'ballpark' serving as baseball's counterpart. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 03:15, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think "home ballpark" is a bit redundant... "the ballpark of the Atlanta Braves" works just fine.. if it is their ballpark of course it is the home one.. "home field" just feels wrong also... people rarely refer to baseball stadiums as "fields". Spanneraol (talk) 15:09, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't object to that change, it's probably why no one really objected when "home" was removed a few months ago. I've updated the article. Nemov (talk) 15:12, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. "Home ballpark" is redundant and "home field" is not baseball parlance. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 02:32, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox maps

[edit]

@Noctawny and Nemov: Will you consider discussing your differences here before continuing? -- Pemilligan (talk) 20:25, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I decided to do the pushpin maps instead of OpenStreetMap. This guy didn't want both as it unnecessarily clutters up the infoboxes. I agreed with him. I removed all OpenStreetMaps from the stadium pages that I have edited. Case closed. Have a good day! Noctawny (talk) 20:30, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Pemilligan This is already settled, but thanks. Nemov (talk) 20:56, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good article nomination

[edit]

@Paytonisboss I've pulled down your Good Article nomination. You should let someone more experienced move forward with this and frankly with your review of the Atlanta Braves article. I spent a lot of time getting that article ready and you've made a mess out of it. Nemov (talk) 13:24, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

honestly i agree i saw that its been up there for like ever and honestly now that i tried to do it, maybe just maybe someone will notice the article deserves to be promoted, and by the way it kinda sucks we lost to the padres this year. Thanks!- Paytonisboss (talk) 14:40, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
but i will still review the Atlanta Braves GA nomination and give my honest opinion i noticed i rushed it and ima do a full review and do my best. Thanks!- Paytonisboss (talk) 14:42, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
