Daily Show
Is the Daily Show appearance notable enough to be in the article? Tlogmer 04:37, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
"Is perhaps best known"
How many things can you be "perhaps best known" for ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.252.164.90 (talk) 06:39, 15 January 2007 (UTC).
Accent
If he was born in New York, why does he have an Irish accent? Anyone have a source for the birthplace info?
He doesn't have an Irish accent although he can adopt one if the situation calls for it.Charles 21:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

This article was automatically assessed because at least one article was rated and this bot brought all the other ratings up to at least that level. BetacommandBot 04:42, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Brothers' names appear completely made up
Real names, according to memoir by Terkel: Meyer and Ben -- only two. What kind of person makes stuff up for no reason?? 71.132.198.232 (talk) 11:19, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Question
- I just saw him on the Daily Show, and I was wondering if we here at Wikipedia can officially name him the most badass guy in history. Someoneinmyheadbutit'snotme 18:24, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
did you see how he was kicking himself for not getting to talk about Bush? I wonder what he wanted to say.
Haha... He doesn't have much nice to say about Bush, that's for sure. He refers to him as a clown surrounded by clowns, etc. Studs knows what's going on better than anybody. Cowicide 19:38, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, he doesn't really, but it sure must feel fine to get laughs and affirmation from talking to people, and making appearences on broadcasts where you know there will be total agreement amongst the gathered, with no chance of confrontation, or a contrary idea in sight. He's a blowhard, to boot. Article on Mr. Terkel is a good one, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.161.94.146 (talk) 20:18, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Agnostic?
Roger Ebert- who I believe actually knew the man- says that Studs was an atheist.
Does anyone know? So that I can change the category? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.83.248.178 (talk) 07:01, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
- No, he used to say that he was an agnostic, because he was to afraid to be an atheist. (or something like that)The Illusional Ministry (talk) 21:03, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Pulitzer Prize
QUESTION: If Terkel published The Good War in 1984, how come it won the Pulitzer in 1985? Is one of those dates wrong? Andrew Szanton, March 2008
- Is it like the Academy Awards, where they are given out the year after the films were released? Best name (talk) 23:24, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Did Studs identify as Jewish?
Did Studs identify as Jewish? Was he? If so, shouldn't he be identified as a "Jewish American" in the first line? There doesn't seem to be any Wikipedia consistency in how to identify a "Jewish American," "Greek American," "Irish American," etc. Thoughts on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Squirrelisland (talk • contribs) 18:06, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- It is relevant to his biography that he was an agnostic, Russian-American Jew, hence that info is in the article. However, it is not relevant enough to include it in the first line. Best name (talk) 23:24, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Who comes up with those standards? Or what's the general Wikipedia standard for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.115.97.74 (talk) 18:08, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Newer edition of "Hard Times"
There was an updated edition of Hard Timespublished in 1986 (Publisher: Random House) with a new intro by Terkel. ISBN 0394746910 Wasn't exactly sure how to add that to the page, so I posted the info here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anne2608 (talk • contribs) 17:11, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
There's an even newer edition of Hard Times - published in 2005 by the New Press, ISBN 9781565846562. I've created a page for Hard Times: An Oral History of the Great Depression. Anne2608 (talk) 18:04, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Jazz writer
This article classifieds Studs Terkel as a jazz writer. Is this true? His first book was called Giants of Jazz but nothing is said about it, and nothing more is said about jazz.
