Is the heated spinning bowl that forms cotton candy fibers from liquid in an airstream, also referred to as a spinneret? If so, then perhaps this should be added as another definition for this term.

Split?

[edit]

Maybe the two articles should be split? I sure think that the highly complex organ of spiders deserves an own feature length article, complete with different types of spinnerets and so on :) --Sarefo 01:32, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images of Spinnerettes

[edit]

Perhaps a few images of various spinnerettes would be nice. The article seems extremely bare and hardly explanatory. JD 05:25, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have just uploaded an image of what I believe is an orb weaver with spinnerets hard at work: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NLN_Arachnid_02.jpg Perhaps this might help? The cephalothorax being lost to DOF actually serves to highlight the spinnerets. I hope this is useful. Thomas Good (talk) 14:22, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I too have added illustrations, but I think we need some electron micrographs. Does anyone know of public domain good material? JonRichfield (talk) 09:38, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
