This is wrong
[edit]The paragraph about Grundy facing Superman, and being sent to an alien world where he could "fly", is about the Earth-1 version, who was created from muck left behind by the Earth-2 version (who had crossed over previously).
Moreover, unlike some pre-Crisis stories that could still happen post-Crisis without the multiple Earths or duplicate characters, this one couldn't, because post-Crisis, Superman's history was completely erased.
I've tried to fix some of the worst of this but it's still not completely correct. For one thing, I don't have the Parasite stories referenced and I'm not even sure it's supposed to be different from the above story (which also had the Parasite in it). For another, if any of these stories happened pre-Crisis, they were also erased. Ken Arromdee 19:45, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
I know nothing about Grundy outside of the cartoon versions. But I recommend breaking this article up into sections (Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis) similar to how Lex Luthor's article is split up. Just because something happened Pre-Crisis doesn't mean that it should be dropped from the article altogether. Seinfreak37 20:51, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
It isn't like Luthor's history where Luthor was completely changed by the Crisis. Most of Grundy's history was pretty much the same, it's just that a couple of stories which touched on Superman or multiple earths got erased. Ken Arromdee 03:53, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
Are you advocating that we remove stories erased by the Crisis from Grundy's article? Seinfreak37 19:55, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
I'm not arguing about whether the material should be included, just about how to present it. If only small parts were changed by Crisis, it might be better to do a single section with just a few sentences describing the change, rather than having two sections like the Luthor article. Ultimately it's a question of style, though. Ken Arromdee 18:18, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Agreed. Seinfreak37 19:27, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Aside from that, the uncritical, imprecise use of the word 'redneck' indescribing Grundy's dialect in "Challenge of the SuperHeroes" might be deemed offensive by some.
duplication

Picture
[edit]Shouldn't there be a more modern picture to display the current modern incarnation of Solomon Grundy? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.33.9.99 (talk) 02:31, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- There should also be a different picture of Grundy for the infobox - Comics Project guidelines suggest a full-length frontal shot of the character in their best known guise. At the moment we only see the top half of his head and an arm. (Emperor (talk) 18:31, 25 November 2008 (UTC))
- I see we (briefly) had a new picture [1] and think this better meets the guidelines than the current one. (Emperor (talk) 15:09, 20 January 2009 (UTC))

missing sections?
[edit]Did someone accidently delete entire paragraphs? The publication history is messedup as is the recent post-crisis history. 66.208.17.254 (talk) 19:43, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
"Miscellaneous"
[edit]How can the "real" Solomon Grundy appear in The Batman or anywhere else? Both are fictional characters so this is unencyclopedic. 75.246.142.16 (talk) 00:16, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Far, far, far too long
[edit]Says it all really, this really doesn't need to be more than a page worth of text 79.79.252.177 (talk) 20:21, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- Really? He is an old character with a long history and fairly prominent in Batman, he has about as much as all the other classic villains.
Klayman55 (talk) 02:47, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Klayman55 This is over 9,000 words long. The article on John Eastman, who many feel is a villain IRL, is just over 4,200. Just sayin'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 156.98.118.108 (talk) 14:59, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- For comparison: the Ras-al-Guhl article is over 6200 words.THX1136 (talk) 17:23, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
