First eclipse in British colonies

This was definitely not the first total solar eclipse in British colonies, not even in those in present US - there had been one e.g. on 4 Oct 1717, visible in South Carolina. --Proofreader (talk) 18:41, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
