[edit]Some proposed changes
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi there,
I would like to suggest several improvements to this page. I am a current employee of the library, and I therefore have a conflict of interest regarding it. I would be very grateful if you would take a look at my proposed edits and, if you feel they are valuable and impartial contributions, implement them. I have provided sources for the assertions.
1. Images would help to flesh out the article. I have uploaded two which were taken by library staff and to which we have applied Creative Commons licences. I am not certain that I have done this correctly, so please do let me know if I need to reupload them.
Information (external sources)
2. The SSL has over 250,000 books and 10km shelving[1]
3. The Manor Road Building, in which the library is housed, was designed by Foster & Partners[2]
4. The SSL’s Refugee Studies Collection “form[s] the largest collection of materials worldwide relating to the causes, experiences, consequences and implications of forced displacement."[3]
5. In 2016 the SSL was awarded a Green Impact Gold Award, presented to them by Alan Rusbridger[4]
Information (bodleian.ox.ac.uk sources)
6. The SSL houses the Bodleian Data Library, which “provides a range of services for researchers and students at the University of Oxford who need to make secondary use of statistics and data”. [5]
Thank you for your time and assistance. This is my first foray into Wikipedia editing, so I would appreciate any suggestions you have about how I can improve future edits/request edits.

- Hi Tomdle oxford. I'm working on this edit request. Apologies, but we've hit a minor problem with the images. Since the images were previously posted to Twitter, an administrator at Wikimedia Commons has asked that a representative from the library send an email confirming the license. You can read the instructions for doing so at commons:OTRS. I assure you that your image donation is very much appreciated, but this site just has to be careful due to legal reasons. Thanks, Altamel (talk) 20:11, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Altamel. Thank you very much for your help on this. My manager, the Reader Services Librarian here, has now sent that email, so hopefully that will sort that out. Please do let me know if we need to do anything else or supply more information on any of the above points. Best, Tomdle oxford (talk) 11:13, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Tomdle oxford. Have you received a confirmation e-mail from OTRS yet? If you have, I think you might need to re-upload the images. I'm not very sure on that front since I don't normally edit on Wikimedia Commons; perhaps you should ask whoever contacted you from OTRS what to do next. Altamel (talk) 04:07, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
