Talk:Silver Surfer (video game)

AVGN
[edit]There are plenty of legitimate reviews that predate the AVGN review that comment on the game's hardness and extremely steep learning curve. I'll see if I can add some references to these. I'll tell you something though, having downloaded the game and tried it, I would definitely say that it is very difficult without prior memorization, and even more so if you don't have a turbo controller or function. Memorizing the level and enemy layout helps a lot, but you're still going to spend a lot of time dying.
There are several reviews on Gamefaqs dating from 2001 to 2004 that comment on the game's difficulty, running into walls, bullets, etc. These can be used as references I think.

I stand corrected. I checked out the Gamefaqs review section and the game is indeed widely known for its difficulty. Personally, I didn't have any real problems getting through the game, but well... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.130.22.174 (talk) 00:13, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
The game is difficult, but not that difficult, a seasoned shoot-em-up player should probably be able to make progress after a few goes, I was able to do one of the levels on my 3rd attempt, saying that it is one of the most difficult games ever made is ridiculous, there is a popular Shoot-em-up on the Commodore 64 called IO which is much, much harder, it took me 7 continues to get past the first 15 seconds of the game.
I think the article does a good job of explaining why the game can be objectively classified as very difficult. Due to the high number of ways to die, no lifebar, and a forced restart of the level. Even if I met someone who could pass all the levels on their first try that does not make this game "easy." So we don't even have to use an ad populum argument that most people who've played it have found it very difficult. We can just use the factors that make it difficult. And it's difficulty is important because it's a distinguishing feature of the game. --Nosebleed.
Laser beams?
[edit]Silver Surfer's weapon is described as follows:
Silver Surfer is armed only with laser beams that shoot out of his hands...
I'm not sure that's the best description, as they are not lasers and definately not beams, but spheres. I can't come up with anything better, though. Interestingly, the projectiles are also referred to as "pellets" later in the section, contrasting with "laser beam". 98.18.178.103 (talk) 05:31, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it instead be the power cosmic manifested in silver bullets shot by the silver surfer?FlossumPossum (talk) 04:10, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Second only to Battletoads
[edit]Are you kidding me? Battletoads is a cakewalk compared to this game! Silver Surfer is probably the hardest game ever made, and I'm taking all these "impossible" fanmade flash games into consideration!
That line shall be removed at once. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.10.109.117 (talk) 19:49, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
