[edit]Irrelevant link - I have removed a link from name of Richard Mytton, MP in 1690s, because it connects him with a namesake who was MP in the 1550s!Cloptonson (talk) 13:22, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I have also changed the redlink to Sir Charlton Leighton to read 4th Baronet in all cases. The 3rd Baronet's namesake father, as has been checked from Namier's History of Parliament, was never an MP but the 4th baronet was. The junior Charlton was of electable age in 1777, in his father's lifetime (latter died 1780).Cloptonson (talk) 11:54, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Unionist candidate at (aborted) 1915 general election
[edit]The name of the Unionist candidate who would have stood should read George Ambrose Lloyd, who had been adopted in 1914 to allow the unrelated George Butler Lloyd to not stand. I have mentioned the circumstances in the Wikipedia article on the former, sourced to newspaper reports in Shrewsbury Chronicle. When the war which caused the election's postponement ended, G A Lloyd was unavailable to stand and G B Lloyd stood instead.Cloptonson (talk) 22:09, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Date of creation
[edit]The article says that the constituency was created in 1290. It is the only borough constituency categorised as having been created in that year. The Return for 1290 does not mention it, and the Return for 1295 does. I propose to amend the article accordingly. Alekksandr (talk) 20:10, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
