Suggestions for Improving the Article

[edit]

1. Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference?

The facts referenced from the source “Olympics” are not reliable because this source will not longer be accessed once the website shuts down. The second source, “Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame | Stories” seems to be reliable as it has records of many Canadian sports and has been running for a long period of time. The article had many facts referenced from the third source, “First indigenous women inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame” which is a Radio Channel (popular source). This is not considered very reliable as they have information that seems to not be referenced appropriately. Lastly, the fourth source “Achievement award winners announced” did not work, therefore unsure if the facts were referenced appropriately and considered reliable or not.

2. Check a few citations. Do the links work? Is there any close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article?

The “Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame | Stories” and “First indigenous women inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame” sources were accessible and were referenced in the article properly. Many facts from these two sources were very close paraphrased. The “Olympics” source will no longer be accessible in there near future, but is currently working. The fourth source “Achievement award winners announced” link did not work, it may have been deleted or relocated to another web address. Overall, the facts present in the article need to be carefully worded and eliminate any plagiarism.

3. Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?

The information about this athlete does not seem to be out of date however, the article was very short in length and was lacking personal information about the athlete. Many things can be added to enhance this article such as a picture of the athlete, a section for her awards/contributions in her sport. The article could include more about her personal life; how she passed away, her childhood experiences, and how she decided to take part in cross-country skiing. Additionally, using more reliable peer-reviewed sources will help validate facts on the athlete and make it much more reliable.MalakHamid (talk) 06:00, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
