Shaktiman is such a popular show in India but we do not have much information on this also. Shaktiman was first Indian Suprehero. I think among children borm between age group 1985 to 1995, shaktiman was there favourite show on Doordarshan. We can imagin its popularity by the fact that it was continiously aired on doordarshan for about 3 years. So can we have more information on this? 203.101.93.2 (talk) 04:59, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguity

[edit]

The article is ambiguous whether it refers to the Shaktimaan (character) or Shaktimaan (TV Series). The article must be split in two. I request someone guides me on this. jinjanjaa (talk) 15:45, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: page moved. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:49, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ShaktimanShaktimaan – The TV Show aired on Doordarshan was Shaktimaan instead of Shaktiman. The name Shaktiman is meaningless whereas the name Shaktimaan has got a meaning. The word Shaktimaan is derived from two Sanskrit words - Shakti and Maan, which literally means Powerful. Hence the page should be moved. Thanks, Sourav Mohanty (talk) 21:12, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. This is simply a matter of how Sanskrit is transliterated. See this source (one among many), in which standard transliteration is used. The "aa" we see in some other English-language works (in the popular literature on Kundalini yoga, for example) is an alternative way of rendering the long "ā"; but it is decidedly non-standard, and does not match the practice in most comparable Wikipedia titles. See Kama for example, representing "Kāma" – and Kāma redirects to Kama. As I write, there is no Kaama that redirects to Kama. NoeticaTea? 23:29, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I guess you did not get my point. Shaktimaan was the original title of the TV show aired on Doordarshan. How can somebody say that 'Shaktiman' and 'Shaktimaan' are both the same words to describe that TV show? For instance, see this news article. It clearly uses 'Shaktimaan' instead of 'Shaktimaan'. I feel, using 'Shaktiman' instead of 'Shaktimaan' will be a serious copyright violation.Sourav Mohanty (talk) 18:37, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an interview with the producer of the TV Show, Mukesh Khanna, who boldly uses 'Shaktimaan' instead of 'Shaktiman'. Hence this page must be moved to 'Shaktimaan' to avoid any copyright violation. Sourav Mohanty (talk) 18:42, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You guess I did not get your point? Keep guessing. You wrote: "The name Shaktiman is meaningless whereas the name Shaktimaan has got a meaning." That was a point, and I countered it with verifiable fact. You can withdraw that point and we can focus on another one, if you like. NoeticaTea? 19:47, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok fine. I withdraw that point. Now lets focus on the fact that Shaktimaan was the name of the TV Show which was aired on Doordarshan and not Shaktiman. Sourav Mohanty (talk) 11:44, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
