Araxi Hubbard Dutton Palmer

[edit]

The nonsense about this non-notable person was recently dispensed with here: [1]. The consensus of the WP community is that SHE IS NOT A NOTABLE PERSON. I have no intention of getting into an edit war over this. I do intend, however, to file a formal complain at AN/I if this vandalism continues. Qworty (talk) 02:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a compromise for this? Sgt. bender (talk) 05:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NNC clearly states that Mrs. Dutton can be added back into the article. I'd like to hear feedback before I do so.Sgt. bender (talk) 23:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, no, it doesn't. It makes an exception for lists of people ("with the exception of lists of people"), and links to Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Lists of people for an explanation of that exception. It is clear that inclusion in a list of notable people from X should only be done for people who are notable on their own (according to the Wikipedia guidelines), and these persons have been determined not to be notable. Fram (talk) 06:59, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps there can be some sort of a compromise? How about adding her under the notable people as "Araxi Hubbard Dutton Palmer, local author, Armenian Genocide survivor"? No wikilink on the name and very clearly include the word "local"? --SmashvilleBONK! 13:10, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why would we do that? The policy is quite clear that to be included as a nbotable resident, you have to be notable as per WP:BIO. The article for this person has been deleted in an AfD, but for some reason she has to be included anyway, apparently. No compromise is needed here. Fram (talk) 13:47, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Which policy? There isn't a policy on notable residents. There's actually been discussion on taking them out of most articles per WP:TRIVIA. --SmashvilleBONK! 16:03, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Strike that...I never saw that part of WP:BIO. --SmashvilleBONK! 16:35, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Smashville's first comment. I think it's a reasonable compromise. Sgt. bender (talk) 21:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure you're reading the WP:NNC correctly? According to it, inclusion in an article needs to be based on relevance to the article at hand and not need to meet the requirements of a separate article. If you know that these people are relevant to the subject matter, please desist immediately and restore at least Mrs. Dutton under history, as I correctly changed. Sgt. bender (talk) 21:44, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm quite sure, thank you. Lists of people are excepted from the NNC section, and you don't circumvent it by taking one person out of the "notable people" list and putting it in a separate section because she is a notable person. This person is not important for the history of Schohanie Valley (the section you put her in). Fram (talk) 07:32, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but please re-state your area of expertise in Schoharie County History. Especially considering you cannot spell "Schoharie Valley" correctly. Sgt. bender (talk) 20:40, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's not the way Wikipedia works. If you claim she did have an impact on the history of Schoharie Valley, you have to provide sources as evidence for your point. We already judged that she isn't notable in the general sense. You have not indicated any major, historical impact she had on Schoharie Valley, she just lives there. And please remain civil.
