Moved from article

[edit]

The describtion of Santa Fe are not based on facts, but taking a little fact and mixing them ones own thoughts. The author used the references, but did he read them? The reference to "Southen Baptist" and other pray led activities were not taken up in this court case. If the author of these comments had taken the time to read the courts opinions, it dealt with sporting events and even in the footnotes commented that prayer in the school system was not an issue here. That was in the Alabama school systems. There has been a liberty taken with the story of the shrimpers. The meeting was not held in Santa Fe, but in Rockport 180 miles away. The author didn't mention if anyone else in the Gulf area had attended. I will not allow any of my 5 children to use you as a source of information. You allow many facts to be swirled together to make a picture that is not factual and untrue. I am a high school teacher and I would never accept a paper with such faulty information. How dare you call yourselves an information source.98.199.27.157 (talk) 21:43, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the information is incorrect, then please correct it. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 21:49, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The high-school teacher above apparently did not read the references, which clearly state the rally in question was held in Santa Fe. These conflicts took place all over the Texas coast, from Port Arthur to Rockport. Not sure why trying to whitewash the history of Santa Fe does anybody any good.98.199.76.177 (talk) 06:03, 20 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced and ungrammatical information removed

[edit]

I removed the following paragraph from the article:

Although the lawsuit that was filled did not just speak of student-led prayer at football games, it also spoke of teacher lead prayer before lunch. Where many students were to leave the school building, or not allowed to eat lunch if they did not partake in the Southern Baptist prayers.

After I did so, I came to the discussion page to leave this comment and found the one immediately above this one by 98.199.27.157. I have a feeling this paragraph was the basis for the objection. I didn't, however, check any of the references given. In light of 98.199.27.157's comments, however, someone should probably do that. I'm at work and can't devote any more time to it.

The removed paragraph was unsourced and ungrammatical. If its assertions are true, then someone needs to find at least one reliable source, and then correct the grammar and spelling before restoring it. —CKA3KA (Skazka) (talk) 16:44, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trey

[edit]

Trey Lemley (he uses the stage name of Trey Louis) survived this unthinkable, unbelievable tragedy. Regardless of whether or not Trey Louis gets to the top 24 or beyond on the show American Idol, he deserves a paragraph on this Wikipedia article and on the city's Wikipedia page. He may well go on to get his own Wikipedia page. He is hugely gifted and I feel he will do great things. He is a credit to his city and the US.Infactinteresting (talk) 06:44, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
