Article move
[edit]I just moved this article from Safe Mode to Safe mode, correcting the capitalization. There was a non-trivial history already at Safe mode, which I swapped to Safe Mode, so the contribution history of some material merged into this article can be found there. -GTBacchus(talk) 07:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Games
[edit]Can we add a section about how games have safe mode (if you crash twice in a row it starts with lowest settings)
- First, please sign your posts, and second, maybe. This article is about an Operating System's Safe mode, not about a game's safe mode, but you make a good point. Certain high-intensity games (Halo, the MOH series, LucasArts games) possess a safe mode with minimal settings in all categories. I would post it and see what happens. If it's deleted by a bot, there's nothing that you can do. But if a human deletes it, usually their IP address or username is left in the edit history. Then you can argue your point on their talk page. Hopefully, no one will contradict you. Matthew 18:06, 19 March 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 10minnickm (talk • contribs)
limp mode
[edit]Several Wikipedia articles allude to a "limp mode" (also called a "limp-in mode" or a "limp-home mode"). [1] Is this "safe mode" article the appropriate place to describe that, or should we create a new article? --68.0.124.33 (talk) 02:55, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Incorrect assertion
[edit]The introduction in this article cites that "Safe mode will fix most, if not all problems within an operating system", really? how? safe mode does little more than boot a system into its most basic fundemental configuration which may enable a system to boot and thus facilitate someone in repairing a system, but in itself, it doesn't fix any problems with the system let alone "fix most, if not all" problems in a system. Safe mode (spacecraft)
[edit]An article has been written for the term safe mode as it applies to spacecraft. This use of the term for spacecraft is unrelated to its use to describe a diagnostic mode for software operating systems or application software. While software diagnostics may be performed as part of the safe mode recovery process, the primary purpose is to take certain immediate physical actions to prevent catastrophic loss of the spacecraft when unanticipated conditions are encountered. As such I have removed the short paragraph on spacecraft safe mode in this article as it was incomplete and largely irrelevant to the article section in which it appeared. Single user mode?
[edit]How is safe mode similar and/or different from single user mode of unix-like operating systems? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.248.248.11 (talk) 15:41, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]The categories section seems to be badly mis-edited, but I have no idea how to fix it.46.114.165.98 (talk) 23:39, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
