Hey there, this is Ryan (subject of this page). There are a few issues I might like to bring up, including:

  • The mention of my moving to Jersey City is kind of taken out of context; I lived there for maybe two or three months while I was looking for a place to live in New York, where I then lived (in Manhattan and Brooklyn) for numerous years.
  • The vast majority of my career is ignored, and only the Apple email incident, and my departure from Engadget are discussed with any level of detail.
  • With regard to the Apple bit: it should be noted that the ~$4b market cap drop was immediately pushed back up once I posted that the email was forged; current phrasing makes it sound like that money evaporated forever.

In general, I'm pretty sure I'm not important enough to warrant a Wikipedia page, nor do I expect that my page would be considered important enough to be properly maintained. I'd like to nominate that someone nominate it for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryanblock (talkcontribs) 05:07, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Ryan - apologies for the problems you pointed out with the article, hopefully Oonissie has gone a long way to fixing those (and many thanks to them for the improvements). I'll be keeping an eye on the page to make sure nothing ridiculous pops up, but I believe that there are enough reliable sources for you to warrant an article. Nominated for Deletion

[edit]

I nominated this page for deletion for not following wikipedia's policy regarding subjects notable only for one event. This article only shows notability for Block's involvement in Engadget, and does not give much attribution to any other notable event or achievement. Articles about subjects notable only for one event give undo weight to the event (Engadget; also in particular the fake email event with Apple, which, by the way, is covered better in the Engadget article) and conflict with neutral point of view. Alternatively, this article could be expanded to provide more sources for notability, or the article could be merged into Engadget's article.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.6.144.214 (talk)

I have contested the proposed deletion, and I have expanded the article to provide more sources for notability. Oonissie (talk) 18:23, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
