Arrest
[edit]Didn't Estrada get arrested for molesting a child? Should this be mentioned? --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 07:10, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- homefacts.com, which is currently listed as a source for the 1977 child abuse, produces no hits for Roy Estrada or Roy Ralph Estrada. Jah77 (talk) 22:46, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
Wouldn't the fact that he molested a young relative be classified as a form of incest?. 61.69.217.3 (talk) 06:30, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- The article says: "continuous sexual abuse of a female family member younger than 14". That is a quote from the cited source. But if you go to the cited source (NME, a pop/rock weekly), it says that the victim's family didn't know he was a convicted sex offender. Um, hang on - you'd think someone in Roy Estrada's family would have known if he'd just been released from jail for sex offences? So perhaps the victim is *not* Estrada's family member, but someone else's? If the source is ambiguous, surely it can't be a WP:RS. The statement seems potentially defamatory.
- I think it's also worthy of note that this conviction was on a plea deal; evidence and testimony weren't tested. So I suggest that with an ambiguous source, and no information about the plea deal, the passage should simply be removed.
- FWIW, I do not think the NME is a particularly good source for crime reports from Texas. It's an English weekly paper, focused on pop industry news.
- Pop newspapers are hardly reliable for anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ak7k8d543 (talk • contribs) 13:09, 26 October 2021 (UTC)
