Quote from the Fresh Prince
[edit]I remember a quote from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air about heaven being like a cross between a Roscoe's and a Sir Mixalot video: you can have a breast in one hand and a thigh in the other. Can anyone source that or find what episode that was on? youngamerican (ahoy-hoy) 15:31, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
-> Fresh Prince made several references to Roscoe's (I can think of at least two others off the top of my head, one of which was the episode where Will, Jazz, and Carlton went on a game show). Someone should probably find the sources and reference it.
Can someone cite where the Palmdale Roscoe's is? I live in Palmdale and I've never heard of one being here, or any plans of building one. -> Removed, couldn't find location on the website.
Deletion
[edit]This article Beath not noatable. Please delete article.-Samnuva (talk) 20:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- No, it is notable. It was deleted via prod, even though someone removed the template and you improperly restored the tag. Now it is back, as I have retroactively contested the prod. Hopefully it can be expanded in the near future. y'am'can (wtf?) 20:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Completely notable. --Bobak (talk) 01:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- There's nothing in the article to indicate that it is notable. I'm originally from Los Angeles, lived there until my early twenties and I'd never heard of the place. Yes, it's obvious - if one looks on the DISCUSSION page - that it's notable, but where in the article does it say why? The article makes it sound one step short of an advertisement. There needs to be an explanation why - you know, that part about "adding reliable, secondary sources about the topic"? Otherwise the surface indicates that no sign of notability and no different than if I'd put up an article about the small pizza place around the block. --ip.address.conflict (talk) 02:38, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- That's like saying you never heard of Philippe's or the old Derby. Roscoe's is one of the most famous restaurants in the city, and that's why it was included in movies like Rush Hour and described but not explicitly named in Bulworth. Citations will be provided and the tag promptly deleted. Of course, an proactive Wikipedian would look it up and add the cites --but there are too few of those these days. --Bobak (talk) 04:59, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Not to belabor the point I'm going to be making, but, as the LA Times put it: "Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles is such an L.A. institution that people don’t even question the strange combo anymore." The New York Times notes its a "beloved soul food chain." It's like the French Laundry and Napa or Versailles and Miami, 'cept soul food. --Bobak (talk) 05:08, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- What part of LA did you live in, btw? --Bobak (talk) 06:17, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Tapeheads Reference
[edit]How acceptable is trivia for pages like this? Roscoe's figured prominently in the John Cusack/Tim Robbins film Tapeheads; an absolutely hilarious music video-style commercial for Roscoe's was presented in the movie, and is currently available on Youtube.Funkapus (talk) 16:29, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
It was also the subject of a song by the popular Internet singing duo Rhett and Link.PokeHomsar (talk) 01:44, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
