Middle name?

[edit]

I think there is a confusion between people with similar names. The family patriarch who lived from 1780 to 1846 in Virginia did not use a middle name (as usual in the 18th century) acording to my sources. "Hall" was his wife's maiden name. He had a son Robert Hall McCormick who died as a teenager, 1810-1826. There was also another Robert Hall who was the son of Leander (grandson of the patriarch) who lived 1847–1917. Perhaps another descendant I think had that name who lived 1915-1997. Might want to clarify at least, or move to something like Robert McCormick (Virginia)? Robert McCormick is already a disambig page. W Nowicki (talk) 23:13, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hall

[edit]

As mentioned in the above thread, I also think there is confusion and the result is that the photo is tagged as Robert HALL when, in fact, it is the patriarch of the family , Robert "no middle name" Hall. I hope to investigate further at the Newberry library and will advise. ```Buster Seven Talk 15:21, 15 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Legacy section- there is no way Robert Jr (1780-1846) has sons still surviving.

Perhaps the legacy section might be clearer if it were written like this: "In 2002, a variety of wheat was named after Robert McCormick and his sons, for "inventing,. . . ."Writethisway (talk) 23:38, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
