Andy Fickman High School
[edit]The citation for Andy Fickman having gone to Midland Lee High School on this wiki is not to an original source but to a stub from the original article on the Midland Reporter Telegram archive[1]. The full article would have shown that he was born in Midland but moved to Houston before high school. The Houston Lee High School alumni website [2] lists him as a 2012 inductee into their hall of fame and the Jewish World Herald has an article with this same info and also states that he lived in Midland for a few years before the whole family moved to Houston in 1976. - So we have a reliable source (a newspaper, provided through a recognized and respected news search agency) that states
Fickman is a former Midlander, having graduated from Lee High School
, and we have a webpage with no indictation of any editorial oversight, published by a school alumni association, which has no established reputation for accuracy. Please read WP:RS. Obviously other better sources are needed. Small point...it's possible he attended both Lee High Schools. John from Idegon (talk) 23:44, 12 February 2019 (UTC)- NM.....I see you've given us one. Ok, feel free to remove him. If it's not there already, I'd suggest adding the JH source to his entry at the other Lee HS. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 23:49, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
Campaigns to rename the school
[edit]In 2017, there was a campaign to rename the school. There is another such campaign currently underway. MRT has a few articles about it. Also, this article should contextualize the building and naming of the school during desegregation. 38.65.100.100 (talk) 13:25, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
- Update, the school board approved a name change, but I don't know what the new name is going to be. What is the policy for something like a school name change, as far as links within Wikipedia? 38.65.100.100 (talk) 14:15, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
- The article can mention that the school board approved the change (with a source, of course); no need to change any names until a source confirms the new name. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:22, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
