This article's only reference is from a source that is a near verbatim version of the Wikipedia article on George Orwell. Should a different source be used? Spinnick597 01:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding another source. Spinnick597 00:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the statement that Orwell changed his name simply because of his "love for the river" is a gross oversimplification. Helios Entity 2 (talk) 04:24, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Swimming section

[edit]

I have just reverted to a previous version of the "swimming" section as the information contained was unsourced with far too much emphasis on the events described. 25% of the article should not be about something that was not reported anywhere at all.

I am actually of the opinion that the swimming section should be removed entirely. The River Orwell is not an internationally famous river and comparable articles make no mention at all of the first person to swim across it. Additionally, in the absence of any source saying so, we have no way of knowing that this actually was the first time the river was swum across. Robinr22 (talk) 16:30, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the absence of any objections, and given that the material is still unsourced, I'm removing the section entirely Robinr22 (talk) 14:04, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well I think you're all miserable sods. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.2.161 (talk) 17:03, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orwell Bridge - East of Ipswich?

[edit]

I'm not sure whether it was the author's intended meaning, but the article reads as though the Orwell Bridge is located just east of Ipswich. The bridge is south of Ipswich, if anything. 81.155.177.242 (talk) 18:55, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
