"Dick Burton was the pro at Hooton Golf Club in Cheshire, until the out break of World War 2, he moved to Coombe Hill Golf Club, his assistant there was Neil Coles. my father and uncle often cadddied for him its sad to note he was the only champion not to profit from his triumph,as the war broke out just after he won at st andrews,Hooton golf club was closed and the links became an artillery protection for the nearby Aerodrome, the land lay unused until the 1960,s when Ellesmere Port built the present golf course, too bad Dick is not well remembered today,he was a very good golfer and a real gentleman he deserved better..."

See Talk:Richard Burton#Requested move. --Una Smith (talk) 20:49, 27 July 2009 (UTC) He is still remembered at Sale Golf club and people there barely talk about the club or the open championship without mentioning his name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.216.127.169 (talk) 13:35, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
