Some proposed changes
[edit]Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. Please see the Reply quotebox below for additional information regarding your request. |
Disclosure - my name is Jim Faulkner, director - communications for the Regional Airline Association, requesting these changes. If someone would like to reach me, my email is faulkner@raa.org. Thank you
Under "Member Airlines" - RAVN Alaska should be added (http://www.raa.org/?page=Airline_Members)
In the box toward the upper right-had corner - Key people should read Faye Malarkey Black, president; Stacey Bechdolt, Vice President - Safety & Operations and Regulatory Counsel ( http://www.raa.org/?page=OurTeam)
Under "1500 Hour Pilot Rule (HR 5900)" - Roger Cohen should be identified as former president.
Under "Controversy" I would like to change the title to "Regional Pilot Pay" with this copy
In recent years, regional airline pay has increased. RAA member airlines pay first-year, first officers an average total compensation of $58,549, and 90 percent of RAA member airlines (by fleet) pay first-year, first officers an average compensation of $61,334 ((http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.raa.org/resource/resmgr/2017pubs/January_Update_01242018.pdf)(slide 20). A pilot’s ROI is better than other high prestige fields.(http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.raa.org/resource/resmgr/2017pubs/January_Update_01242018.pdf) (slide 21) For every $1 in education, doctors earn $19; teachers earn $23; lawyers earn $30 and pilots earn $33. In an editorial in “The Hill,” Faye Malarkey Black, RAA president said, ““To be clear, pilots deserve fair compensation. Substantial wage increases have already taken place and will continue.”http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/transportation/347661-when-it-comes-to-pilot-training-safety-is-about-more-than

Notes
- ^ Additional infobox parameters, including leadership, foundation date, services and fields, were activated and filled out with their accompanying information.
- ^ Additional instances where the former president was referred to in quotes were changed to reflect the former status.
- ^ This information, which features various data not independently corroborated, effectively constitutes a press release, and as such, would not be appropriate for the article.
- ^ The desire for balance would see FMB's comments in The Hill added to balance out her predecessor's quote, inartfully given at the time to PBS Frontline's Miles O'Brien. Those comments originated in an interview with the journalist and thus, are able to be added to the article. On the otherhand, the FMB quote from The Hill is expressly marked as editorial content and cannot be added to the article, per: WP:SOAPBOX. This apparent catch-22 seems to unbalance the article. Nevertheless, I cannot time-travel in order to persuade former president Cohen to choose more appealing comments to give to Frontline. Without further community direction to alter these, my hands are tied.
