Spelling of name
[edit]SashiRolls, thanks for your updates at this article. However, Ngrams shows mixed results regarding the "La", with the two forms now neck-and-neck in English sources, so this page move was probably premature until we can figure out what the WP:COMMMONNAME is in English reliable sources. Note that even this BNF page has it both ways, although this one consistently capitalizes it. These links may help find whether it is "de La Pradelle" or "de la Pradelle":
- France sources: Bing · Cairn · DuckDuckGo · E. Universalis · Gallica · Google · (books · scholar) · Persée · Qwant
- Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
In addition, your edit summary quoted how it's done at wikidata or French Wikipedia, and you should know that both of them are considered unreliable sources (as is English Wikipedia), and you can *never* use what you find in Wikipedia as a reason to move a page. I wouldn't undo the move at this point because it's not clear if that would be an improvement. However in the future, please see WP:RM for further guidance before a move; for anything more than just a typo in the article title, please follow WP:RM#CM. - Mathglot, thanks for checking the BNF before breaking the *.wp consistency. I'm glad you see that it makes more sense for grandfather (lol), father, and son to have the same name at en.wp & for the same person (and family) to have the same name at en.wp & fr.wp & wikdata. I checked the virtual authority files at fr.wp & wikidata and decided to follow the decision taken on fr.wp to standardize to the capital, following the BNF. If you would like to add authority files to this page, that would indeed be helpful, though the priority is really the content. -- SashiRolls 🌿 · 🍥 05:03, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
