Requested move
[edit]Rail gauge in Canada → Track gauge in Canada – Per Talk:Track_gauge#Requested_move. HTML2011 (talk) 22:58, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Moved Noncontroversial move. Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 02:15, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
first railroads were 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm)
[edit]The Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad was NOT built as 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in)
No reference was given in the article to support this and the best references I can find online (see below) either state clearly it was built as 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) or do NOT include it in the 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) railroads.
-Rise and Fall of Provincial Gauge by O.S.A. Lavallee in "Canadian Rail" says the line was built to 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in).
-Provincial or Broad Gauge does NOT list it as one of the railways built to 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm).
On this basis I am going to delete references to it being built to the broad gauge and put in the history as given by Lavallee.
