Evidence of non-profit status?
[edit]This article claims that Rachel's Challenge is a non-profit organization, but no evidence of that is presented here. Furthermore, while the website itself solicits donations, there don't appear to be any assertions of non-profit status there or any links to the organization's IRS Form 990, which would support the article's assertion. Normally, a non-profit organization would explicitly state its status on its webpage; such organizations also usually tell potential donors how to obtain documentation to facilitate deducting the donation on their taxes. All this appears to be missing from the Rachel's Challenge website, however, I recognize that I could be missing it or that it could simply be an oversight by the RC site administrators.
Since this article seems rather quiet, I'll be patient and wait a few weeks to see if anyone can provide some substantive evidence of the group's non-profit status. However, if no evidence is provided, I intend to edit the main page to remove the as-yet unsubstantiated claim. Regards, 72.0.15.8 (talk) 18:14, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- With nary a comment or scrap of evidence proffered in nearly two months, I'm going to remove the words "non-profit" from the entry. If anyone can provide some solid evidentiary support for re-adding it, I'm certainly open to doing so. Regards, 72.0.15.8 (talk) 18:50, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
- It is stated on their web page that they are a non-profit: [[1]]Melcous (talk) 14:37, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
- That does not establish that they are actually a non-profit organization, or that they are entitled to that status. As requested previously, please provide substantive evidence of that status before editing or reverting. 72.0.15.8 (talk) 15:53, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, you previously said the website didn't have any assertions of non-profit status, so I was pointing out that it did. I don't know much about this, but a quick search on the IRS list of Exempt Organisations includes them as a "Public Charity" which I would have thought would make them a non-profit. - There are also any number of news articles referring to the organisation as a non-profit, so I will put the description back in with a cite to one of them. Melcous (talk) 00:00, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
