Similarly - although less drastically with this - "Queensland at the outbreak of World War I" seems like a great topic for a CC-by-SA paper, but not so much for an encyclopedia article. The content is absolutely fine though, and I feel like this could be an excellent start (heck, with only minimal additions it could easily do fine) of a History of Queensland in World War I or History of Queensland (1914-1918) article, which I feel would be more encyclopedic (and also start the badly needed process of sorting out the larger History of Queensland article situation. Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the article title myself, but, as always with me, instead of agonising too much, I tend to just push on, knowing it can be changed later. We must think along very similar lines as you invariably comment on the article titles that I was not entirely happy about! My current plan is to create an overarching article Queensland in World War I along the lines you propose as soon as there is enough content in the section on World War I in the History of Queensland to justify "popping it out" as a stand-alone article. Then I was thinking that there might be a series of articles Queensland in World War I (191X) for each year to overview things that happened in a particular year, and then link off to specific topics e.g. Queensland War Council and the Egg Throwing Incident. It may be that some of these initial articles (which are low-hanging fruit) may be renamed or broken up later when the overall shape of the set of articles becomes clearer. How would you feel about this article being retitled Queensland in World War I (1914) as that is more-or-less the role it plays currently and certainly could be explanded further with thtat title? Aside: I have created Category:Queensland in World War I to hold any articles that pertain to that topic (it is a subcat of Category:Australia in World War I and Category:History of Queensland). I think we can omit "History of" if the article/category title explicitly mentions WWI as I think most readers would understand WWI was inherently history. If I go with Queensland in World War I (1914), I can roll in the Queensland's various declarations of war content. Kerry (talk) 22:45, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fine by me. I'd be also happy to go with your former plan and just chalk up the gaps in it to incompleteness that we can deal with later - either covers it just fine in my book. If possible, I wonder if the the enemy aliens one could be kept separate though - that one made for a great standalone article, and if only we had a matching set for the other states our WWI domestic coverage would be drastically improved. (For instance, I've done a lot of WWI-era editing on South Australian politics, and ooh boy didn't that have some fallout with the size of the colonial German population there.) I think the Enemy Aliens can stand alone as a "theme" article rather than a "chronology" article. Kerry (talk) 00:40, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping Drover's Wife. The above suggestion also looks good to me as a way of organising this material. Nick-D (talk) 10:43, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I have now merged the two articles into this one. Better? You might be interested in my thoughts on how to organise the outputs of the Wikipedian-in-Residence program along a number of viewpoints. Kerry (talk) 03:15, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
