Genre

[edit]

Is Profit really the same genre as Sopranos and 24? Are Sopranos and 24 really in the same genre? Hackwrench 01:06, 31 March 2006 (UTC) Changed them to two shows closer in genre Hackwrench 13:43, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Neither The Pretender nor John Doe had a main character who was a villain. How do you justify placing them in the same genre? - turbov21

Anybody been watching Dexter ? I'd put that in the same class. The Stealth Ranger 09:58, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think "Black Humor" doesn't define it all, but it's a good start. Lunepale 17:57, 25 July 2011 (GMT+1)

Deleted "Rumination." (a professional psychological profile, in fact)

WP:NOR. I mean, that's just blatant. --MattShepherd 18:07, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date of airings

[edit]

On IMDB, it lists that the last 4 episodes did eventually air, but about a year and a half after the first four originally aired. [1] Does anyone have any information if this is correct or not? If it is, the episodes chart should probably be updated to reflect it. Cardsplayer4life 06:14, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB's list has the original US air dates (on Fox TV) for the first 4 eps. The last 4 eps did not air in the US in 1997 because Fox canceled the show. IMDB's dates for the final 4 eps are for a non-US airing in 1997. Cf. http://www.adrianpasdartributesite.com/category/profit/

Changed "moving box" to "shipping box"

[edit]

As stated in the dialogue, Profit's father bought everything in the house from G&G. The box is a leftover shipping carton from one of those deliveries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.101.37.96 (talk) 10:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anchor Bay Profit Page

[edit]

I can't seem to figure out how to add a new link to the "External Links" portion of the page, the link I'd like to include is the official Anchor Bay page for the 2005 release of the Profit DVD which is here: http://www.hyfntrak.com/profit/AFF18754/

It contains video clips and photographs from the show and I think it should be included; is the external links section of this page locked out for changes? Thanks!

Memorable Jim Profit Quotes

[edit]

I've moved these newly-added quotes to the talk page, as articles are not meant to contain such listings. Perhaps one notable one can be chosen to accent the article, but that's it.— TAnthonyTalk 22:28, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, this would be more appropriate for Wikiquote, per Wikipedia:Quotations#When not to use quotations. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 22:31, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "The line most people say they won't cross: it's usually something they've already done when they thought no one was watching."
  • "When you want someone to love you, open your heart. When you want someone obsessed with you...close it."
  • "Anyone who thinks controlling people is a science is dead wrong: It's an art."
  • (To Joanne Meltzer) "You can't run from your past, and you can't run from yourself."
  • "Failure is a much better teacher than success."
  • "The problem with cutting corners is it always comes back to haunt you."
  • "The important thing to always remember in business is what may seem like a calamity can often become an opportunity - and opportunity is what life is all about."
  • "In my experience, the worst way to get a straight answer is to ask an honest question."
  • "Sometimes the most interesting results of a (financial) audit have nothing to do with numbers."
  • "When two people fall out of love and into hate, they become vulnerable to all manner of passions, fears...and if someone's watching carefully - manipulation."
  • "Pain: the Buddhist monks believe it exists only to be embraced, that we must fold it into our lives alongside pleasure, and remember that both are fleeting."
  • (To Gail Koner) "Revenge is pointless, it's a tool for the weak. You're not weak...not anymore."
  • "The key to real success is to take all your fears and put them in a box, and lock them away."
  • "Of course not every evil can be tied up in a neat little package, but that's the challenge. To face our own personal darkness and to put our demons where they can't hurt us anymore, and to do what we can to make the world a better place."
  • "Security: it doesn't exist in nature. No animal is so arrogant as to ever feel completely safe, only humans believe they can find assured well-being through design & technology...some even believe it with a vengeance."
  • "We all seek that 'other', a soul-mate, a shadow-self with whom we can merge seamlessly, but in that coming together, we risk losing ourselves. Everything becomes a blur, and we grow afraid, unsure...even distrustful. The danger of course, is we never know who that 'other' really is, what they want, or the lengths they'll go to to get it. In the end, it's probably best to go your own way...even though there will be times you'll long for something else."
