Died on purpose?

[edit]

2015 report of actual death

Later in 2015, reports circulated on social media that Putin had died, including some reports that Putin had died on purpose so he could distract public attention from domestic issues.[10] Asked if Putin was dead, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied the reports, affirming Putin was alive and adding "we've already said this a hundred times".[10]

Is "died on purpose" the same as a suicide? I've never heard it phrased that way. 24.51.192.49 (talk) 22:54, 18 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this reads like an intentional nonsense: "had died on purpose so he could distract public attention from domestic issues". Let's remove. My very best wishes (talk) 19:29, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. While no one assertively claimed that Putin indeed died in 2015, there is such claim right now. And the plot thickens: ""Kremlin Assigns Vladimir Putin's Body Double His Own Body Double After Assassination Fear" (I assume that MSN news is an RS). Cancer treatment?

According to this source. But this seems to be mostly a speculation, especially with regards to drug(s) affecting his decision to attack Ukraine. It is theoretically possible. Few people know that the erratic behavior by Yeltsin was caused by a combination of drugs he was given and alcohol (described in the book by Yelena Tregubova). Patrushev speech Nov 2023

I posted at the main page Talk:Vladimir Putin#Death_again before I realised that this dedicated article exists here. ⁓ Pelagicmessages ) 22:17, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The person who makes the claim (Valery Solovei) can not be regarded as RS (rather the opposite), to say this politely. This is the problem with placing such claims on page Putin and possibly even on this page. It does not mean his claim was wrong (who knows, it maybe true), just that it can not be reliably sourced.
