Hangon

[edit]

This entry is for an organization that has raised thousands of dollars for injured/sick veterans and active-duty members of the Armed Forces. It has been featured on Fox News and CNN, and in The Stars and Stripes (America's publication for soldiers, Marines, airmen, and seamen). It has been honored by having flags flown for it on bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, and its founder has won numerous awards for her philanthropic efforts.

I mean, I see that it needs more citations, but I do not think it should be deleted. Scooge (talk) 01:32, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have links to the stories/features from Fox and CNN? I'm not finding anything (but admittedly having and interesting time googling "pinups"...Keeper | 76 05:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This article does not meet WP:CSD#A7 because there exists an assertion of notability (couple of them in fact). The speedy deletion tag should be removed and proper cleanup tags put in place. Since you are an admin and you left it up, I won't take it down myself. I will wikify the article real quick though. ZabMilenkoHow am I driving? 11:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I found a Fox news link and one from Salem news (searching "pin-ups" instead of "pinups"), plus enough ghits through news to assume that notability exists, so I am going to remove the notability tag I just added. ZabMilenkoHow am I driving? 11:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work ZabMilenko! Way to step in and help out. I didn't have the time to verify the sources myself - nice work! Your driving is just fine :-) Keeper | 76 03:48, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements

[edit]

I believe that this article could be improved by addressing the following issues:

  • adding more links to it from other articles;
  • adding an image;
  • restructuring the article so that it meets the structural requirements (i.e. have a defined lead or introduction section that outlines the article, e.g. the subject and why it is notable), followed by one or more sections of content;
  • references: please add in line citations for the information (for a B class rating, each paragraph or contestable point needs an in line citation);
  • the text possibly needs to be rewritten because at the moment it is not encyclopedic. For instance it says that the publication is in its third year, this needs to be changed as next year it will be in its fourth year...thus it is best to say the year in which it began publishing by itself so that the article's currency is not an issue.

Anyway, that is all I have. If you would like more in depth comments, you may consider listing the article at WP:MHPR. Also once these improvements have been made, you might like to seek re-assessment. This can be done by adding the article to the list at WP:MHA. Hope this helps. — AustralianRupert (talk) 05:31, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns Addressed

[edit]

As you can see, most, if not all of your concerns have been addressed. There is a problem with caretakers of linked articles deleting crosslinks after edits have been made, but I tried to engage those editors on their article's discussion pages. More work will be done in a timely matter to address all remaining issues. The article will be kept up-to-date or revised so that updating is not an issue.
