This article is probably based on human or mammalian anatomy but this is not stated - indeed the author(s) do not say that branchiomeric muscles are vertebrate structures which riginated evolutionarily in Agnatha (jawless fishes) and persist in Gnathastomata (jawed fishes) and Amphibia.
