Lead Paragraph History
[edit]in the first paragraph please don't put the origin of the name (the history), most people do not need this information when looking up this topic and it just reduces the quality of understanding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.88.92.224 (talk • contribs) 17:37, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
what's that on the slide?
[edit]The caption under the image has "ILEUM" (stuck caps lock?), and indeed the text of the article informs us that ileum is differentiated by the presence of Peyer's patches, but when you click on the image, the first thing you see a file name starting with "jejunum". Which one is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Selkovjr (talk • contribs) 11:22, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Discussion needed of IGA and health conditions assocaited with Peyer's Patches
[edit]Citations are needed throughout the "Functions" section of this article. In particular, there must be a citation for the claim that B cells mature in Peyer's patches. Further, it must be clarified that most of B cell maturation occurs within the bone marrow instead of the patches. To elaborate on this point, the article could include discussion of class switching and how Peyer's Patches are a key site in the synthesis of IgA. A source that could be used for this is:
Janeway CA Jr, Travers P, Walport M, et al. Immunobiology: The Immune System in Health and Disease. 5th edition. New York: Garland Science; 2001. Survival and maturation of lymphocytes in peripheral lymphoid tissues. Available from: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK27150/
On another note, the section on the clinical implications of Peyer's patches is quite limited. There is research that links Peyer's Patches to the development of Chron's Disease. A brief discussion of this connection would greatly enhance the clinical section of this article. The Following source could be used for this:
Camille Jung, Jean-Pierre Hugot, and Frédérick Barreau, “Peyer's Patches: The Immune Sensors of the Intestine,” International Journal of Inflammation, vol. 2010, Article ID 823710, 12 pages, 2010. doi:10.4061/2010/823710 --Immcarle36 (talk) 19:24, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

There is no source for the connection on excessive Peyer's Patches and increased risk of prion disesase. ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:2D80:5182:AA00:0:0:0:DA6B (talk) 00:59, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
