Having a single slave-owner among 8 great-grandparents doesn't seem relevant unless there is a something more, and there doesn't seem to be that here. The only source is a Reuters article that's a broad survey of American political figures rather than about Sessions specifically. I checked several other figures listed in the Reuters article, and none of their pages had the slaveowning ancestry included. Considering the remoteness of the link and the prejudicial impact of any connection to slavery, this inclusion fits poorly with WP:BLP.
Though I edited this and gave the above rationale, Jon698 has now twice reverted/re-added with no rationale or even edit summary provided.
