Bill Robb's additions
I draw Bill Robb's attention to:
- WP:COI#Self-promotion: "Conflict of interest often presents itself in the form of self-promotion, including ... material that appears to promote the private or commercial interests of the editor" -- such as frequent links to his own commercial www.valueseducation.co.uk website.
- WP:NOR#Citing oneself: "If an editor has published the results of his or her research in a reliable publication, the editor may cite that source" -- the material in question is unpublished in any "reliable publication".
- WP:NOR: a large amount of the new material is not even sourced to self-published.
- It is considered disruptive to remove maintenance templates, including {{fact}}-tags without correcting the problem.
- WP:SELFPUB: "Self-published work is acceptable to use in some circumstances, with limitations. For example, material may sometimes be cited which is self-published by an established expert on the topic of the article, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications. However, caution should be exercised when using such sources: if the information in question is really worth reporting, someone else is likely to have done so. For example, a reliable self-published source on a given subject is likely to have been cited on that subject as authoritative by a reliable source." (emphasis in original)
- As far as I can tell, from looking Robb up with 'Harzing's Publish or Perish', Robb's work has not "been previously been published by reliable third-party publications".
I would therefore conclude that his additions are unsuitable for this encyclopaedia. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 12:49, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, I am responding to the request for a third opinion about this topic. I see that Beetstra has already redone the revert from the history page, but since Robb is the one that requested the third opinion, I wanted to be sure that settled the question for him. The United Nations and Peace Education
Original hidden comment:
Do we REALLY want to list every document from the UN that includes the words "peace" & education in the same sentence?
— Hrafn
Response:
ANSWER: Good point - clearly to do so would result in hundreds of references. However it does seem reasonable to list the dozen or so major UN documents as identified in the scholarly reference at the beginning of this section. I've just added one scholarly reference from the DG of UNESCO, and hopefully more scholarly references will be added in the next few days

Counter-response: generally I would expect "major UN documents" to have their own articles on wikipedia. I would therefore question whether:
- Final Document of the Tenth Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly (SSODI - Special Session on Disarmament I
- World Congress on Disarmament Education: Final Document and Report &
- UNESCO Declaration of Principles on Tolerance
...count as "major UN documents". HrafnTalkStalk(P) 06:41, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
I would further point out that the mention of 'peace education' in most of them is tenuous -- seldom coming to more than mentioning 'peace' (as well as a number of other values) and 'education' in the same sentence. HrafnTalkStalk(P) 06:43, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
