Pataliputra and Patna
[edit]- Pataliputra is the name of one of the most ancient towns of the recorded history of human civilizationsᾍ. A complete article, in addition to Patna may be developed. Actually, ancient Pataliputra and Patna are as different as the modern Rome and the Ancient Rome. It appears prudent to create an independent article on Pataliputra, distinct from Patna. I propose to do so. Comments are solicited. Users who are interested are also solicited to contribute. --Bhadani 18:37, 14 July 2005 (UTC)

serious content error
[edit]""the First Buddhist council immediately following the death of the Buddha and the Second Buddhist council in the reign of Ashoka. Jain and Brahmanical sources identify Udayabhadra, son of Ajatashatru, as the king who first established Pataliputra as the capital of Magadha"" is wrong .Only 3rd buddhist council under Ashoka was held in Pataliputra.First was held in Rajagriha and 2nd one was held in Vaishali. You can verify the same with tons of data available on the inet.! Happy sage (talk) 17:40, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Pāli version
[edit]According to the Dictionary of Pāli Proper Names, the Pāli is Pāṭaliputta rather than Pātaliputtā as shown in the infobox.--Shantavira|feed me 11:43, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
