Proposed merger
[edit]I propose merging Parkroyal into this article. As arguments on the AfD discussion page mention, it is a WP:PERMASTUB without significant coverage in RS outside of hotel reviews. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 14:52, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- In order to get the most notable article, the name of the article should be UOL Group, currently without an article. UOL Group has as its subsidiary Pan Pacific Hotel Group, which is comprised of two hotel brands: PARKROYAL and Pan Pacific. [1]. These brands were purchased by UOL Group in 2002 and 2007 respectively. [2] - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 15:07, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose merge. I disagree with a merge of Parkroyal to Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts. I also disagree that Parkroyal has no potential at growing beyond a permastub. From http://www.parkroyalhotels.com/en/about.html: "The PARKROYAL portfolio comprises 17 hotels, resorts and serviced suites in gateway cities across Asia and Australia, including those under development." The article can be expanded by discussing the history, architecture, and reception of Parkroyal's 17 hotels. The sources Northamerica1000 (talk · contribs) has pointed out at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parkroyal (2nd nomination) are a good starting point for that. News.com.au, The Australian, Bloomberg Businessweek, South China Morning Post, The Jakarta Post, and The Wall Street Journal are all independent reliable sources. - Oppose merge – For starters, the article was recently expanded and is not a permastub; it's presently rated as start-class, with potential for further expansion. The topic has received enough coverage to qualify for a standalone article, and the result at the AfD discussion less than one day ago was for article retention, not for merging. As such, the consensus at the AfD discussion should be respected. North America1000 03:02, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
