Name
[edit]Apparently the team used to be known as Морские Львы ("Sea Lions") while still playing domestic hockey, but is now performing as (only) Sakhalin? That's in any case what the Asia League webpage tells [1] and also the team sweaters state only that unlike previously. The club's own webpage is not functional but Russian sources seem to call the team "Sakhalin" or sometimes HK Sakhalin. -89.67.22.30 (talk) 01:20, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

[edit]There are four teams from different sports competing under the PSK Sakhalin name. Looking into some info at the club web page (in Russian) and doing some digging,[1] it becomes clear that PSK (which stands for Professional Sports Club) was created in August 2015 as large scale professional club offering four different sports sections either to be created or incorporated from already existing clubs (as the web address indicates "OneTeamSakhalin.ru"),[2] to be a sort of Dynamo or CSKA Moscow of the Far East of Russia. As all of it's sports divisions compete using the club's crest and colours (light sky blue), that might create conflict with the club's sections which were independent clubs before being incorporated by PSK.
I suggest the following:
- PSK Sakhalin - should become a page for the multi sports club, just like the general CSKA Moscow page.
- PSK Sakhalin (ice hockey) - page to be created. PSK incorporated an already existing hockey club (would require a redirect for HC Sakhalin and Sakhalin Sea Lions pages to this newly created page).
- PSK Sakhalin (basketball) - page to be created. Is a brand new section of the club, created in 2015 and is the Russian Basketball Super League 1 defending champions.
- PSK Sakhalin (volleyball) - page to be created. PSK incorporated an already existing volleyball club founded in 2012 (which doesn't have a wikipedia page). They are playing the Super League this season.
- PSK Sakhalin (football) - page to be created. PSK has incorporated FC Sakhalin Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (FC).[1] I couldn't find official statements from neither PSK nor FC about the merging, but as evidence I would point out:
- 1. At FC new web site (in Russian) the latest news to date (23-Dec-16) were published on 10-Jun-16 stating (in Russian) the club will not take part on the 2016/17 Russian Professional Football League.
- 2. The PSK football news site (in Russian) stretches back to 03-Feb-16 as being its oldest news. On 24-Jun-16 it confirmed (in Russian) its participation in the 2016/17 Russian Football Championship.
- By comparing the news from FC and PSK pages during the time they overlap (Feb. to Jun. 2016) you find both clubs reporting the exact same activities in reference to their own teams. Both claim to play the same matches,[3][4] finish the same championship in the same position[5][6] and even signing the same player.[7][8]
- 3. The only records of a football club from Sakhalin found in the Russian Football Professional League web site (in Russian) are under PSK name (in Russian), even checking at previous seasons which FC played on, the info always refers to PSK. It's like as FC has never existed.
