Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that POP Air Pollution Protocol be merged into Aarhus Protocol on Persistent Organic Pollutants. These two articles are about the same subject. Leyo 21:54, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I am the creator of Aarhus Protocol on Persistent Organic Pollutants and I support the merger proposal. Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 23:39, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- If it is true that the titles refer to the same thing I also support. May I suggest that the title without the abbreviation persists (abbreviations in article titles should really be avoided if possible in my opinion) EvilxFish (talk) 13:26, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Agradman: Would you, as the creator of one of the concerned articles, be willing to do the merger? --Leyo 14:27, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Leyo: Sorry, I have not really edited Wikipedia in five years and it would be difficult for me to do. I just responded to this merger request because I saw the notification. I respectfully ask that someone else do the merger ... I have no particular preferences for how it's done. Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 19:33, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Agradman: Are you referring to technical difficulties? If so, Wikipedia:Merging#How to merge provides guidance. And even if it's technically not done perfectly, this may get fixed at a later stage. The problem I have is that I don't know much about this topic. --Leyo 23:53, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Leyo: No problem, I can take responsibility for this merger -- not a technical issue, it's just that I am a recovering Wikipediholic and when I had kids, I resolved that I would push as much Wikipedia editing onto others as possible :) But I can't do it immediately and I hope that's OK. Having said that, I am truly curious -- how in the hell did you locate these two articles and identify this overlap? I'm a lawyer and it took me a lot of googling and thinking to realize that these two articles are redundant. I'm honestly impressed. Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 04:36, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Edit: Wow, I actually did it. Please take a look and let me know if you have any feedback. Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 05:08, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for the merger. Too me it looks like good work. :-)
- I discovered this overlap by accident, i.e. as I was pinged through this addition that contained lots of text not belonging to the topic of the article (but to Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants). --Leyo 22:31, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
