Other Projects

[edit]

Oli has a few other projects he does work on, Mostly Electronica stuff. I'll add the genre but I need someone else to add the names of these projects. KezianAvenger 21:57, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

notability

[edit]

he's not notable outside bmth AND all the infromation on this page can be found on there. speedy deletion time.The-deejjj (talk) 06:28, 1 November 2009 (UTC) WELL OLIVER SYKES IS BY FAR THE BEST PERSON AND THE BEST LOOKING PERSON ALIVE!!!!!! Speedy deletion declined

[edit]

I've declined the speedy deletion as it does assert significance. It was previously deleted at AFD, but this version is improved over that one. At the worst, this should be directed to Bring Me the Horizon, the band for whom the subject fronts, and anything relevant merged there. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 20:49, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If it is not sourced and expanded, it needs to be redirected. The claim to a separate article is tenuous. Dlohcierekim 20:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree - nothing has been forthcoming so I have restored the redirect to the band article. I would urge anyone wishing to create an article on Oliver Sykes to do so in userspace until it is in a fit, properly-sourced state. Thanks.--Michig (talk) 19:21, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a page

[edit]

Sourced and expanded enough? Please give feedback- don't just delete the article. Thankyou. SeaN94 (talk) 20:45, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Oli is well known enough to warrant his own article. SeaN94 (talk) 20:48, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please note that this page is in progress, I have not completed it to my satisfaction yet, hence the sections without writing. SeaN94 (talk) 21:33, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So Oli Sykes has an article at en:WP finally :p but please don't forget to add his articles in other languages. He definitively shows notability outside BMTH. --Goroth (talk) 07:13, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For the development of this article

[edit]

That one citation is huge, in fact for some reason it is two other different links inside of it. THey can be split to source other areas surely. Also here are several source for expanding the article:

Some can be used to describe the band's controversial status and the person that infamously imitated Oliver to lure and kill a girl, but failed. The last is a general source about Oliver and could be useful. Jonjonjohny (talk) 18:36, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

being sued for moshing

[edit]

Oli and BMTH where sued for starting a mosh pit that resulted of a 12 year old getting injured, of which her parent sued the band (link: http://www.underthegunreview.net/2013/06/23/bring-me-the-horizon-apparently-getting-sued-by-concert-goers-parents/ ) but a few days later it was confirmed that no such actions will be taken and the band and Oli were not sued, AND the warped tour will also still have mosh pits in action rather than made illegal (link: http://www.underthegunreview.net/2013/06/25/update-bring-me-the-horizon-not-getting-sued-moshing-not-banned-at-warped-either/ ), I have already spoken of this on the Bring Me The Horizon talk page but should it also be included here on Oli's page? - SilentDan297 talk 19:58, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Music career

[edit]

Removing this entirely leaves a huge gap. A section such as this is entirely appropriate, and similar to (but not as well sourced or written as) Paul McCartney#1960–1970: the Beatles, in a Featured article. Peter James (talk) 20:24, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

'Scuse, me, what're you doing here? At least you didn't go through the trouble of actually putting some review up here for it. It's supposed to remain uncreated until someone does decide to review it.

As for the article's status, I'm going to say this article does not have even a snowball's chance in hell of passing, and I will quickfail it mostly on the grounds of being far away from meeting any of the GA criteria. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 01:06, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 29 November 2016

Add a link to Hannah Pixie Snowdon's Wikipedia page in the line that states that Oliver Sykes married, and then divorced her. Geegeex (talk) 20:37, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship issues

[edit]

Please note that under WP:BLP we need to have solid sources, especially if it concerns certain allegations that could have legal implications. These need to be thoroughly sourced and please discuss them here first before adding/reverting the article. Thanks. Karst (talk) 11:13, 12 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Australian citizenship

[edit]

In an interview with Australian media outlet The Project [1], the presenters stated that Oli Sykes spent some time down under as a child, to which Sykes responds that he has an Australian passport. To have an Australian passport, you are required to have an Australian citizenship. This means Sykes is a citizen of Australia, which should be added to the article here. But I'm not sure if this interview alone is a source that is acceptable to confirm Sykes' Australian citizenship. Is this acceptable as source for this article on its own to confirm his Australian citizenship? Rockmusicfanatic20 (talk) 00:51, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have an idea as to how we could add this detail to the article without overstepping what we're allowed to draw conclusions about. I will make an edit soon - it will use an inline footnote different from a standard source citation. However, I do need to know something first - do you have a source which cites that you have to be an Australian citizen for a passport? dannymusiceditor oops 01:29, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DannyMusicEditor: [2] Australia.gov website for acquiring an Australian passport, "Step 1: Gather original documents and two passport photos. Unless you qualify for a passport renewal, you will need: Evidence that you’re an Australian citizen." Rockmusicfanatic20 (talk) 17:51, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This source shows that this is the requirement to have an Australian passport as an adult. We need more solid evidence than this that Oli was necessarily a citizen of Australia, since he only spent childhood living there. dannymusiceditor oops 21:41, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Same principle for a child suffices for the same Australia.gov website. [3] "Step 1: Gather original documents and two passport photos. You will need: The child’s full birth certificate. Evidence that the child is an Australian citizen." Rockmusicfanatic20 (talk) 22:42, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That'll work. dannymusiceditor oops 01:44, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect citizenship information (Brazil)

[edit]

Hello, I see that the mention of Oliver Sykes having Brazilian citinzenship is locked. However, that information is incorrect. The article used as source only mentions he bought a house in the country and now had a CPF, which is a Brazilian tax ID that even foreign tourists can get. This week, he posted a photo on his Instagram showing he recently got an RNE card. This is a residence permit ID that is given to foreign citizens who get a residence permit to live in Brazil. Nationalized foreigners receive a regular Brazilian ID. Caiosigma (talk) 22:43, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Caiosigma yes as per this source he's still a resident alien Nswix (talk) 21:51, 6 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This was again added. As per the above, the documentation that is being shown does not confirm that he is naturalized citizen. Karst (talk) 13:01, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
