Jean Shepherd had a Vaudeville or Hollywood background before radio???

Currently the main text claims that "Radio attracted top comedy talents from vaudeville and Hollywood" and lists many examples, among them Jean Shepherd. Shepherd's page has no mention of any vaudeville experience -- not too surprising since Shepherd wasn't born until 1921. Nor does it mention Hollywood.
