Apparently a new version was scheduled for release this year.

The current status of the project?

[edit]

Does anybody have information about the current status of the project? Our current Wikipedia page says it's active, but I could find more or less conflicting information through web. For example:

  • DistroWatch.com labels the project status discontinued.[1] I am not sure why, but I've made an inquiry to Jesse Smith who is taking care of the website.
  • SourceDigit released a news article about the most recent prospects of the Nova project on July 29, 2015.[2] The news article also discusses the plans to release a new version of Nova Linux someday soon.

As far as I am concerned, this seems a bit confusing to me. Whereas DistroWatch.com might be a highly regarded player in the field, it doesn't really refer to source. On the other hand, I am open to the possibility that their status label might have certain wisdom behind, and therefore I wouldn't discard it straight away. Also, the distributions websites seem to be down at the moment, but just nearly one year ago they reported in the media how they are going to "heavily invest in the operating system".

I don't know... Any further knowledge would be more than welcome! Cheers! Jayaguru-Shishya (talk) 21:27, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the latest news: Nova, the Cuban Linux Distro, Looks Seriously Good. It is about Nova OS 6.0. I do not know how trustworthy it is, so I am posting it here pending further verification. Baldwin Clere (talk) 08:52, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OMG Ubuntu is pretty reliable and can be cited. - Ahunt (talk) 14:10, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On the use of the label discontinued by Distrowatch, they say that "The Discontinued status is reserved for projects which are no longer being developed. There is no outward activity and no roadmap for new releases."[3] Baldwin Clere (talk) 19:01, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That Distrowatch status could be out of date, though. - Ahunt (talk) 13:25, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
