Vera is also the father of top-300 baseball prospect Norge Carlos Vera, a 20 year old in the Chicago White Sox system. By 18, the son followed in his dad’s footsteps becoming a quality pitcher in the top Cuban league Serie National— but chose to defect to the US after Trump shut down the Cuban-American baseball system Obama had put in place.
The younger Vera probably deserves a Wikipedia page too, but he def deserves a mention on his dad’s page. Especially since people searching for other one of them are so likely to find the other b/c they have nearly the same name and are both Cuban right handed pitchers.
Here is a link that can be used: This is about the younger Vera defecting and signing with the Sox: https://www.mlb.com/news/norge-vera-agreement-with-white-sox
This is about the relationship between the younger Vera and his dad, and confirms that the younger Vera is a notable prospect. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/prospect-dispatch-cuban-right-hander-norge-carlos-vera/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnfromtheprarie (talk • contribs) 19:15, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
