title problem
[edit]This article is about the company, but the infobox is about the newspaper. A cleanup and break out page is probably required, perhaps at Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc., and a ー社 added to the Japanese. Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this painlessly? - BanyanTree 21:55, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
- I think it's clear that they're most notable for that newspaper. I think it could probably stay the way it is. -Theanphibian (talk • contribs) 14:47, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- This issue should be re-visited. Nikkei launched an English language publication, Nikkei Asian Review, which replaces both www.nni.nikkei.co.jp and e.nikkei.com/e. At first glance, the new website appears to be, basically, an English language version of www.nikkei.co.jp (which now redirects to www.nikkei.com). The redirect and the new English publication suggests a broader realignment of Nikkei Inc.'s publications. Also, note, there are now seven (7) redirect to this page:
- Finally, as the article notes, the company itself is legally Nikkei Inc., so I would expect there to be a page under that name (or its formal name as is currently) which talks about the company formation, history, joint ventures (with, for example, McGraw Hill), etc. ... and separate page for its publications. That would remove some of the confusion. Alternately, keep as is, and change Infobox Newspaper to Infobox Company (maybe put Infobox Newspaper in section for each publication). Of course, review in context with the more recent realignment of its publications.

Logo is squashed
[edit]The logo displayed on the wiki page is squashed vertically. While the original logo is also quite squashed-looking, it's not as severe as that on the wiki. See below for comparison. Logo on Wikipedia: Logo on Nikkei's own site

Centrist or not
[edit]In Japan, the Nikkei is often seen as being right-leaning and favourable to the right-wing LDP in the Yomiuri and Sankei newspapers, left-leaning and critical of the right-wing LDP in the Asahi and Mainichi newspapers, and neutral and centrist in contrast to them in the Nikkei.[1][2][3] It is certainly not impossible to say that the Nikkei is somewhat right-leaning because of its business orientation, and since this is the English Wikipedia, the Japanese evaluation may not be that important. However, as the Nikkei is a Japanese news organisation, the views of the Japanese people should not be ignored, and if not added to the political alignment, it should at least be added that the Nikkei is seen as centrist in Japan in its explanatory notes. - I do not support describing Nikkei as a centrist. However, I do not object to expressing the Japanese perception through footnotes. Mureungdowon (talk) 06:52, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
