"Fatal"

I feel like this needs to be rephrased. While types A and C can be considered fatal, the most common type of NPD, type B, rarely is. I have a brother with NPD-B, but I don't have the scientific experience/journal references personally to back this up. Both types C1 and C2 Niemann-Pick disease are most commonly characterized by onset of ?? in childhood, although infant and adult onsets are possible.

Onset of what? If its correct, is it possible to make it more available as I can't sincerely be sure I am getting the message.

Due to the inherited genetic nature of this disease, the beginning of the diesease cannot be specifically attributed to one factor other than the defective genes in the affected individual. It may have something to do with the failure of cholesterol transport. Due to the number of competiting theories as to why the cholesterol transport fails in the first place, it is difficult to pinpoint one cause for the disease. Adverse Reactions to Medicines

There is no scientific basis for the assertions. NP-A, NP-B, and NP-C are solely caused by inheritance of diseased alleles. This section constitutes misinformation. Will be deleted.

Infants: age of onset and symptoms?

I'd like to see some information about when this disease is detected and what symptoms are seen in infants: obviously slurred speech isn't going to be present. Trouble swallowing? Differences in subcutaneous fat? Monado (talk) 03:01, 22 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A form of dementia

According to the website www.alzheimers.org, Niemann's Pick disease is a rare form of dementia, so could this not be placed in the category entitled Dementia?Vorbee (talk) 19:35, 27 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
