Charlotte History

[edit]

Part of the deal to move the "Hornets" name back to Charlotte is that the Hornets also keep the history of the previous Charlotte team. The Pelicans history and legacy only stretches back to the move to New Orleans, regardless of their name after the move. While appropriate to reference the historical context of the move, teams stats and performance in Charlotte should only appear on the Charlotte Hornets page. BRIT 18:34, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if the talk page listed a reliable source for the transfer of the records. As for how to present it in the Wikipedia article, it may be useful to look at the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns article for a situation where a franchise's history was transferred. —C.Fred (talk) 18:45, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at the Charlotte Hornets talk page. Some people have put some sources there. Records up until the team moved will be transferred to the new team. And anything after the move will be kept by this team. This is like the Ravens and Browns situation and like the SuperSonics situation will likely unfold. -DJSasso (talk) 18:58, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This is correct, but it doesn't change the actual history of the team. The detailed team history for the Charlotte years should be cut back, but it can't be eliminated completely, as one recent edit did. --Arxiloxos (talk) 23:07, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Once the proper sources are identified, the history of the Charlotte Hornets should be removed and replaced with a brief summary of the events leading to the teams relocation.--MarcusPearl95 (talk) 23:23, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've cut the Charlotte section back substantially, so it now provides some information of continuing relevance to the team: Shinn's founding of the franchise and the choice of "Hornets", the team's early success and later attendence woes, and the decision to move. --Arxiloxos (talk) 23:45, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious statement

[edit]
Paul had made it clear he would only sign with the Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers, or the Los Angeles Clippers

I tried to find some source that Paul was interested in the Clippers specifically (given the Clippers' history up to that point I am highly skeptical) but wasn't able to, just that he wanted New York or L.A. If someone can find some source that Paul was interested the L.A. market as a whole, that would be most excellent. Also, there was no info on the rejected Lakers deal (which is a huge event in this team's history, found some recent columns analyzing the nixed and the ultimate trade) so I added some there. hbdragon88 (talk) 09:51, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 16 May 2019

[edit]

The president of this team is not Dennis Lauscha. It is David Griffin, and the GM spot is vacant. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1116802082462478337?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1116802512051478530&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpelicandebrief.com%2F2019%2F04%2F12%2Fpelicans-hire-david-griffin-make-anthony-davis-trade%2F Villageacules (talk) 01:57, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies

[edit]

I would just like to apologize for the mistake I made on a date. When it said that the Hornets became regarded as having suspended operations from 2002 to 2004, I thought it should have said 2014, not 2004, because that was when the Charlotte HORNETS became a thing again. I forgot about the Bobcats, who joined the league in 2004. But someone corrected my mistake and it is all good now. Karl Malone the Mailman (talk) 04:42, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
