Issues with this article
[edit]There are numerous issues with this article:
- It is not written in encyclopedia style. In particular, it should not use wording such as "In latest developments", which would be more appropriate for Wikinews.
- It is not properly referenced. Sources should be references with the <ref> tag following the relevant claim, not by linking words directly to a source Internet reference.
- This information would be better suited for inclusion within the Indian rupee sign article. It is not substantive enough to warrant its own article (at least, not based on the current content) and is more likely to be seen in that article anyway.
- The title should only have uppercase letters for the first word and each proper noun (i.e., Indian), but not the other words (i.e., rupee, symbol, controversy), per Wikipedia article naming conventions.
Please cleanup the article and merge it into Indian rupee sign. Otherwise, this article will likely be deleted for lack of substantive content, if not other reasons. If it is deleted (yet again), please do not re-create it as the same issues will arise and it will merely cause more annoyance. —sroc (talk) 14:54, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- The author had put the same information in the lead of Rupee, Indian rupee and Indian rupee sign. It has been removed from all of these leads but retained, in the article body, in the latter. I'm not convinced this belongs anywhere; the author appears to have an axe to grind - is it really controversial? I42 (talk) 15:03, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
- The "controversy" has been pushed into at least Indian rupee and Rupee for some time now. I've had to protect both these articles in the past to prevent it being re-added. The issue in the past has been that the one WP:CITE was a blog: at least this time round the cite appears to be a newspaper. I'd suggest if it belongs anywhere it would be at Indian rupee sign (the "controversy" being about the sign, after all). I've not looked in detail at the latest cite, but the impression I got when I last Googled for this was that 1 billion Indians were very happy with the new sign, and 1 Indian was unhappy... maybe that's changed now.
