Name

[edit]

It still might be quite a few months before a name is chosen, but "New Detroit Arena" is still not the most appropriate name for this page. It's been refered to as the "events center" or "arena" is the vast majority of local media. To be clear, "Detroit" has never been named even in the informal references to it. It's either the new Red Wings "event center" or "arena" or "stadium." Better yet, the entire entertainment complex is called "The District Detroit" which might be even more appropriate for the time being to get across that it's not just a new arena being built, but an integrated neighborhood. Someone think about this, and then come up with a better page name. --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:28, 22 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There was an article in local media saying that the name of this is "Detroit Events Center" until they announce the formal name. Time to change the article's name. The developers have made it clear they want to call it the "Detroit Events Center" since they are marketing it specifically as more than just a sports arena. --Criticalthinker (talk) 07:40, 12 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean, but until a name is formally announced, I think sticking with New Detroit Arena isn't a bad idea, especially since that phrase is used often in the District Detroit's website about the arena. Of course, your suggestion isn't bad either. However we shouldn't be hasty to codify something that we know is not official or even collectively agreed on. "New (location) (venue type)" is a common placeholder name we've used on Wikipedia for these situations. ViperSnake151  Talk  15:57, 16 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cut down

[edit]

This article needs some serious paring down, and needs to be made more consistent with other pages on similar venues. Someone needs to take a look at a similar page and then model after this. I realize this is not yet done, but that's precisely the reason not to keep adding every single little announcement to the page. This page is ridiculously cluttered. --Criticalthinker (talk) 00:55, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I will continue to complain about this, but the "scheduled events" section is getting ridiculous. Literally when do you stop adding scheduled events? How is this consistent with other sports venue pages? A venue's website is where you can go to find scheduled events. This is almost turning into an advertising page. Someone more familiar with sports venue pages than I am needs to go study one, and then edit this thing to a more proper length and size. I am truly baffled by how anyone can think this page looks good, or that half of it isn't irrelevant. As a Detroiter, it's embarrassing; it's try-hard. --Criticalthinker (talk) 09:22, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It is absolutely untrue that Detroit is the first NA city to have all sports "Downtown". MSP and DEN come to mind right away. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.104.26.22 (talk) 23:45, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Ⓩⓟⓟⓘⓧ Talk 05:37, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
