Neuken
[edit]I don't think the reference to Dutch slang word Neuken is appropiate in this context. anon user Special:Contributions/84.30.97.206 points out another example in the Wikipedia, namely Fucking, Austria, but the article states that Anglophones not only connect it with the English word Fuck and that the town's sign is often stolen because of that.
There are no reference of Neuquén being in any way commonly connected to the Dutch word, but is the sole view of the anonymous user, for what it might be considered an Wikipedia:No original researchoriginal research.
Onthe other hand, Belgium model Aurélie Neukens[1], somehow closer to Flemish and Dutch areas, might have had a hard time at school. That's something to point out.

Population
[edit]POPULATION: Accordding to the last stadistics the Neuquen population is about 260.000, not 390.000, I don't know where did you get that numbers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 190.49.26.161 (talk • contribs) 00:48, 29 July 2006.
Please sign and date your comments using four tildes (~~~~). If you want to discuss numbers, please mention where you got them from. Right now there seems to be a problem here: the Ministry of Interior gives a population of 203,190 for the city of Neuquén. The whole province has 474,155 inhabitants (2001 census [INDEC]), and the 9 largest cities over 10,000 besides the capital (Cutral Có, Zapala, Centenario, Plottier, San Martín de los Andes, Plaza Huincul, Chos Malal, Junín de los Andes, and Rincón de los Sauces) have in total 187,905 inhabitants (source). Sometimes non-official sources give approximate figures of population, or include nearby towns and villages around a main city. I'm fixing the article now. —Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 14:22, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Population
[edit]I live here, the city has 265.070 habitants. Thought it might have way more since it is still growing really fast.

- Hi mat, thanks for the update, but it would be good if you could provide some source for it. I believe the previous figure was for the 2001 census. Mariano(t/c) 09:18, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Coordinate error
[edit]{{geodata-check}}
The following coordinate fixes are needed for Neuquén, Argentina
-38.95, -68.233333 is wrong. These coordinates are for a neighboring area named Plottier.
-38.95238,-68.064112 is correct. Google Maps link: https://maps.google.com/maps?safe=active&hl=tr&q=-38.95238,-68.064112&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x960a33cf18a76467:0x46fe0a770cd95c7d,-38.95238,-68.064112&ei=YVwXUubOMej34QT3yIHwAg&ved=0CCkQ8gEwAA

Neuquén, Argentina → Neuquén – "Neuquén" already redirects here, the other meanings are also in Argentina so this isn't a very helpful disambiguator, I suggest we treat this as the primary meaning. PatGallacher (talk) 01:32, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NCPLACE. As far as I know, only places in the United States use such long names when the short names already redirect there. If it's determined that this isn't the primary topic, based on other members of Category:Populated places in Neuquén Province, we'd want a title like Neuquén, Neuquén or Neuquén (Neuquén), and I think we can all agree those are silly. --BDD (talk) 06:30, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
