Naval Academy Mürwik → Naval Academy at Mürwik — Mürwik is a place, not part of the academy's name - correction of wrong word-by-word-translation by a German into categorizable international naming scheme. 68Charger (talk) 17:22, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

- @Juliancolton: Seems like this was moved back without discussion; I think this is not fair. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:27, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Piotrus: I sometimes can't remember my brother's birthday, let alone a RM from nine years ago. :) You may be right but I'd like to think I had good reason for it. I'm just about to walk out the door... I'll take a closer look this afternoon and try to figure out what happened here. – Juliancolton | Talk 15:13, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, I see; it's been moved back and forth a couple times since the RM. I thought my initial close was the issue. As far as I can tell the title has never been discussed except in edit summaries, and it's been long enough since the uncontested RM that circumstances might have changed (unlikely, but who knows?). I think a new RM, this time with wider visibility, is probably the best path forward to ensure that someone has an actual mandate for their preferred name instead of citing things like "stability" or a decade-old RM with no community input. My instinct is that the at version is the more correct one, but clearly some people disagree so it's no longer a trivial or uncontroversial move. – Juliancolton | Talk 14:25, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Naval Academy Mürwik → Mürwik Naval Academy – Per discussion above and the slow revert move war on this, how about Mürwik Naval Academy? I think that placing the location first is more common in English. Another option would be Naval Academy at Mürwik but I don't like it as much, as I think this place name does include location, and at suggest a disambiguation only (German for this is Marineschule Mürwik) Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:28, 10 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. - I’m not the most familiar with this topic, but what do English sources say the name is? Garuda28 (talk) 12:03, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Is Marineschule Mürwik a formal name, an informal name, or a description? (Compare: United States Military Academy, "West Point", "the West Point academy") Ham Pastrami (talk) 07:37, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
- Rename to Marineschule Mürwik unless it can be shown that it has a commoner name in English. WP:UE does not say we should translate unless there is a commonly accepted English-language name. Mürwik Naval School would be the best translation in any case. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:47, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
- Rename to Mürwik Naval School; does not appear to have been an "Academy". K.e.coffman (talk) 02:22, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- Rename to Mürwik Naval School as above. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 15:08, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
